Student Council
RKS Student Council
Student Council is an organization designed to teach students how to become strong leaders and productive citizens in the community and world. Student Council's sole purpose is to promote citizenship, scholarship, leadership, human relations, and cultural values. We give students an opportunity to develop these skills by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects. In addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit and community welfare, the student council is the voice of the student body. We help share students' ideas, interests and concerns with the school wide community.
The function of the student council is based upon parliamentary procedures. Ideas are presented, voted upon and confirmed by the student body president. Any student that is interested in leadership, organizational behavior, event planning or becoming more involved in the school is welcome to become a member.
Leadership
Student Council members are leaders and should represent RKS with PRIDE. Any student who would like to become a member must complete an application, have one teacher reference, and attend the first meeting in September. Elections for officers will be held in October.
Responsibility
RKS Student Council is responsible for the Back to School in September and the Winter Formal Dance in February. We also organize the Bully Free Campaign/Acts of Kindness week, and November Food drive.
Citizenship
RKS Student Council will consist of a president, vice-president, secretary, reporter, and a grade level representative. Good citizenship and a positive attitude is a must. Student Council is a team. We promote cultural and social equality. Bullying and/ or disrespect towards peers, disrespect towards sponsors and/or teachers will not be allowed. If any of these behaviors occur, a conference with parents/guardians, administration, and student will be held. Dismissal is a possibility and will be determined by the sponsors.
