Schools Close Tuesday & Wednesday Due to Winter Winter

As previously announced, all St. Charles Parish Public Schools' sites, including the School Board Office, will be closed on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, due to forecasted weather conditions. Based on updated forecasts with anticipated impacts to operations due to prolonged periods of freezing temperatures into Wednesday, all school sites will remain closed on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

An update regarding school system facilities and operations will be shared by 3 PM on Wednesday, January 22.

Update on PowerSchool's Response to Cybersecurity Breach

St. Charles Parish Public Schools has received additional details regarding PowerSchool's response to its recent cybersecurity breach. In an email sent on January 17, 2025, to affected school systems, PowerSchool shared details about the steps they are taking to address the incident and support those whose information may have been involved.

Just the Facts: A Recap of the January School Board Meeting

The St. Charles Parish School Board held its monthly meeting on January 15, 2025, at the Professional Learning Center in Luling. Agenda items included resolutions/proclamations, student and employee recognition, flood and property insurance brokerage, request for/approval of proposals, a bid, personnel, revisions to a policy, and a contract renewal.

Remy Zeringue

“Participating in sports and competitions has allowed me to work with others more fluidly, no matter the circumstances."

Remy Zeringue, an eighth grader at R.K. Smith Middle School with perfect attendance, participates in a variety of sports: soccer, baseball, basketball, football, and jiu itsu. He enjoys spending time hunting and fishing with his family and friends.

Julmarria Jackson teaches at R.K. Smith Middle School and has twelve years of experience. She is motivated to always be curious, apply herself, and reach for the stars.

R.K. Smith Middle School is honored to partner with Bayer in support of the education of our students.

Bayer donates between $10,000 and $15,000 each year to R.K. Smith Middle School. These funds are used to support various school projects throughout the year.
